U.S. President Donald Trump said Iran is eager to “make a deal” with the United States following fresh American military strikes targeting Iranian drone and radar sites over the weekend.
The comments came amid rising tensions between Washington and Tehran after the U.S. military confirmed strikes on Iranian military locations linked to drone operations. Iranian officials also claimed responsibility for retaliatory actions targeting American interests in the region.
In a post shared on Truth Social, Trump insisted that Iran “really wants to make a deal” and said any future agreement would benefit both the United States and its allies. At the same time, he criticized political opponents and commentators for interfering with negotiations.
Trump warned what he called “political hacks” to stop negatively “chirping” about how fast or slow negotiations should move, arguing that constant criticism makes diplomacy more difficult.
The latest military exchanges have raised concerns about stability in the Middle East, especially around the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, a major global oil shipping route. Analysts say the situation remains fragile despite ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at preventing a wider conflict.
Officials familiar with the talks say discussions continue over key issues including Iran’s nuclear program, sanctions relief, and regional security guarantees. However, several major disagreements reportedly remain unresolved.
Despite the tensions, Trump expressed confidence that negotiations would eventually produce a positive outcome, telling critics to “sit back and relax” while discussions continue behind the scenes.
